Codes of Conduct

Parents || Players

Spectators

  • Set a good example.

  • The youngsters copy your conduct and attitude.

  • Recognise sporting behaviour.

  • Show that you appreciate sportsmanship on the field.

  • Encouraging players to shake hands at the end of the game is just one example.

  • Appreciate good cricket.

  • Show that you do appreciate good cricket skills by whichever team.

  • Consider others.

  • Even if excited by the game, remember to be considerate to other spectators - young and old.

  • Learn the Laws of Cricket.

  • Then you will appreciate how difficult interpretation can be. Never criticise umpires by shouting.

  • Never using foul or abusive language.

  • Your club is responsible for your behaviour.

  • Do not let the Club down. More importantly do not let the youngsters down. The Club will not tolerate this. We will withdraw our teams from any game regardless of the consequences should any manager believe this level of behaviour is occurring.

  • Never take the law into you own hands.

  • The managers, coaches and match officials have been appointed to deal with all situations.

  • Your interference will only serve to complicate matters.

  • Never be drawn into disputes.

  • Youngsters may not understand the language being used by adults, but they are always fully aware of feelings. Arguments and expressions of disquiet will not result in a successful outcome to the game.

  • Remember "Walls have ears"!

  • Remarks you make (even in the dressing room) could be detrimental to club, players or league.

  • Youth Cricket is a game of enjoyment for the players.

  • Support your child and the team in a manner which will maintain the high reputation that the Club has for sporting behaviour.

  • Nearly all our spectators are parents or relations. You are not watching unknowns battle to the death. You are concerned with the development of your youngster. Get it right!

  • Enjoy being a spectator, but please take note of the ten points listed above.

  • Refusal to follow this Code or any other behaviour unacceptable to the Club may result in you being asked to leave.

Parents, Guardians and Carers

•           Do not force an unwilling child to participate in cricket.

•           Remember children are involved in cricket for their enjoyment, not yours.

•           Encourage your child to play to the Laws of the Game and not to argue with umpires and other officials.

•           Teach your child that honest effort is more important than victory so that the result of each game is accepted without undue disappointment.

•           Turn losing into winning by helping your child work towards skill improvement and good sportsmanship. Never ridicule or yell at your child for making a mistake or losing a game.

•           Remember that children learn best by example. Applaud good play by your team and members of the opposition.

•           Do not question the umpire's judgment or honesty. Remember he/she is only human with the same feelings as you and, like you, sometimes may make an honest error.

•           Do not question a Club coach about tactics or team selection in front of others. Feel free to do so in private, but remember their decision is final.

•           Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from children's cricket.

•           Recognise the value and importance of coaches who are all volunteers. They give their time and resources to provide cricket for your child.

•           Read the Laws of the Game to understand better what you are looking at and commenting on.

•           Promote the Club’s Codes of Conduct.

•           Non-adherence to this code may result in your being asked to leave the grounds and /or ultimately removal from obtaining and holding Club membership

•           Ensure that your child arrives in good time for training and matches and is collected afterwards promptly.

•           Parents, guardians and carers of Under 7’s and Under 8’s must remain with their child during training sessions and matches.
